Patrón was founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley and is produced at Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco. It pioneered the ultra-premium tequila category and is distilled using a unique blend of traditional tahona and modern roller mill production methods. Now owned by Bacardi. The Añejo is aged for a minimum of 12 months in small American oak barrels, giving it a distinctly barrel-aged character.
