Citadelle Gin was revived in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel of Maison Ferrand in Cognac, France, using the original 18th-century recipe from the Dunkirk distillery — fired by an open flame in a copper Charentais still during the cognac off-season. Citadelle Rouge is aged in former Pineau des Charentes barrels (a fortified wine from Cognac), giving it an amber-rose colour and rounded, fruity character.

Gin Style French Aged Gin (Barrel-Rested)
ABV 44%
Botanicals 19 Citadelle botanicals aged in Pineau des Charentes barrels — additional notes of red fruit, vanilla and light oak from the cask
Gin Description Amber-rose with natural pink hues from the wine cask. Rich and inviting on the nose — the classic 19-botanical Citadelle spice is rounded by red fruit from the Pineau barrels, with notes of raspberry, vanilla and a touch of orange marmalade. Smooth and complex on the palate with barrel-rested warmth, fruit sweetness and a long, spiced, gently woody finish.
Serve Sip neat over ice as a digestif; or in a Rosé Gin Negroni with sweet vermouth and a dash of orange bitters
