Citadelle Gin was revived in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel of Maison Ferrand in Cognac, France, using the original 18th-century recipe from the Dunkirk distillery — fired by an open flame in a copper Charentais still during the cognac off-season.

Gin Description Crystal clear. A fascinatingly complex nose that opens slowly — violet, citrus and coriander lead, with gentle hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom underneath. On the palate, fresh juniper arrives cleanly before the baking spice complex develops mid-palate. The finish is what sets it apart: bright, slightly sweet and strongly aromatic with cardamom, angelica, nutmeg and a long anise-fennel note.
